about

"Solace" is a devotional work, an extended exegesis of the ancient Gnostic poem "The Thunder, Perfect Mind", inspired by the long-form works of twentieth-century electroacoustic composers such as Stockhausen, Radigue, Raaijmakers, Berio, Subotnick, Risset, and Ferrari. It is accompanied here by four companion pieces assembled using similar methods, mainly utilizing digital resources rather than the analog electronics that define the composer's earlier work. "Artemis Lycaea" is a musical interpretation of a poem written by the composer, while the thematic inspiration for the other pieces lies primarily with their sonic source material. This collection reflects the composer's spiritual interests, fascination with the malleability of the human voice as a sound object, and predilection for certain forms of cultural detritus.
